Every fighter hopes to secure a spot in the blockbuster event as the biggest event of the year draws near. Nate Diaz has expressed interest in competing against Conor McGregor at UFC 300 once more.
However, Conor doesn’t seem to be eager for the battle. Nate and Conor have already squared off twice, with one victory in each contest. Although it appears that Nate won’t have an opportunity to take the lead over McGregor, he still wants to conclude the argument.
Nate Diaz advocates for Conor McGregor trilogy
In 2016, Nate Diaz and Conor McGregor engaged in combat, marking one of the greatest rivalries in the UFC. Their intense conflict resulted in two fights, where Diaz initially defeated McGregor at UFC 196, but McGregor rallied back to win in their rematch at UFC 202.
Nate expressed his desire to compete in the UFC once more, preferably at UFC 300, the biggest event of the year. He recently posted the banner for his bout with Conor, originally planned for UFC 200, suggesting it would be fitting for them to headline UFC 300 instead. Nate said, “I was supposed to headline UFC 200. Headline UFC 300 would be better.”
Nate, who is currently a free agent, just lost his boxing debut against Jake Paul. On the other hand Conor is gearing up for his bout with Michael Chandler, which will signal his return to the sport.
Why doesn’t Dana White want a McGregor-Diaz trilogy?
Even though their two fights were a major hit, Dana White seems to have moved on from this rivalry. Dana has made it clear that the rivalry between Nate and Conor has concluded, emphasizing that they’ve had the fights they wanted. He stated that offering more fights would be taxing on the fighters, especially someone of McGregor’s caliber, and expressed reluctance to put him through such demands.
Dana said, “They wanted to do it, we did it. They wanted to do it again, we did it again. There’s only so many of those wars you can be in, in your career and it takes a lot out of you. Some guys go into wars like that and they’re never the same after. So I don’t want to do that to someone special like Conor McGregor. It’s just not right.”
It wouldn’t be wrong to say that as of now there is no possibility of a fight between Nate Diaz and Conor Mcgregor. The Notorious is expected to be seen back in action on 29 June against Chandler but not in lightweight but in middleweight division.
