In a recent episode of The Lowe Post, ESPN’s Zach Lowe seemed to imply that Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green would receive an indefinite suspension from the NBA. Just before that announcement was made on Wednesday, Lowe apologized.
“I apologize for this comment, which came out as needlessly leading + mysterious,” Lowe said via X (formerly Twitter). “I tried to express that we have no insight into what might be going on privately. As is clear from episode +NBA Today, I obviously expect Draymond to come back ASAP. We are editing this out now.”
As it happened, Green was ejected from the Warriors-Phoenix Suns game on Tuesday night after hitting center Jusuf Nurkic in the head. The hit resulted in an indefinite suspension from the league. Lowe doubled down on his apology in a subsequent post, going into more detail about the thinking behind his initial remark.
“The whole episode discusses what comes next for Draymond and the Warriors. On NBA Today (today), I pushed back against @KendrickPerkins suggesting the league suspend Draymond for 25 games. Regardless, this aside was flippant, unclear, and unnecessary, and I apologize for it.”
Regardless, this simply demonstrates Lowe’s class act status. Rather than just shrugging it off, he apologized multiple times. When Green is cleared to play again, the Warriors will only need to hope that he will genuinely turn around and improve.
Green is suspended indefinitely
Draymond Green, the power forward for the Golden State Warriors, has been suspended from competition “indefinitely,” the NBA said on Wednesday. “This outcome takes into account Green’s repeated history of unsportsmanlike acts,” Joe Dumars, the NBA’s executive vice president in charge of basketball operations, said in a statement.
The action was taken the day after Green hit centre for the Phoenix Suns, Jusuf Nurkić, in the face during the game’s third quarter. The Warriors fell short of the Suns 119-116 after Green was called for a Flagrant 2 foul. It was his 18th career ejection. After the hit, Nurkić went down, but he got back up and continued playing for the rest of the game.
