NBA legend applauds Nikola Jokic’s humble demeanor despite Nuggets’ Championship glory: “Never seen championship picture taken with your best player in third row”

With a remarkable show of teamwork and selfless play, led by their excellent star Nikola Jokic, the Denver Nuggets won the 2023 NBA Championship. The 2023 Finals MVP and two-time NBA MVP  personified the team’s attitude with his relentless dedication and altruism.

The Joker has proven he can be tough when required, as evidenced by his confrontation with Markieff Morris in 2021, but he really shines when he is humble and cool-headed.

Nikola Jokic graciously stood aside and let his colleagues bask in the glory of the franchise’s first NBA title, placing himself discretely in the back row of the team portrait, in a touching moment recorded by NBA veteran Kevin Garnett.

KG hails Jokic’s humble nature

The basketball community including the players are in awe of Nikola Jokic’s skills after his outstanding performance in the NBA playoffs in 2023. He has been very dominant with averages of 30 points, 13.5 rebounds, 9.5 assists, 1.1 steals, and 1.0 blocks per game.

NBA legend Kevin Garnett has always appreciated Jokic’s talent, now he has been particularly moved by his extraordinary humility.

Recently Kevin Garnett stated, “Joker looks like the most humblest motherf****r I’ve ever seen,” Garnett exclaimed on the Ticket and The Truth podcast. “I’ve never seen a player who’s won the NBA championship and he was just dormant. He was more into his daughter… He’s a one-of-one. I’ve never seen this. I’ve never seen the championship picture being taken with your best player in (the) third row of the picture.”

When the squad posed for their title photo during the parade, the Serbian Centre was positioned all the way in the back, which was a clear indication of his humility.

While it is common for celebrities to take the stage, the Joker stands out because of his attitude. Instead of focusing on himself, he continually acknowledges and thanks his colleagues. Nikola Jokic’s lack of self-promotion is genuinely unique at a time when it is commonplace.

Garnett emphasized Jokic’s singularity even more by saying, “He is one-of-one.” The Serbian superstar stands apart in a league where many players prioritize personal recognition due to his disregard for developing his own brand. Jokic is a very unique character in the modern basketball environment since he only cares about the team’s success.

The position of Nikola Jokic towards the championship parade completely changed. The NBA Finals MVP changed his mind about the celebration after triumphantly riding through downtown Denver’s streets with his Bill Russell Trophy.

He said, “You know I told you I didn’t want to stay and parade,” to the delighted throng. But I f-king want to remain and see the procession. My life has never been better than it is right now. This is incredible.

Jokic had previously indicated a desire to return home shortly after the Nuggets won the championship, even bringing up a horse racing in his birthplace of Sombor, Serbia.

However, it appears that the appeal of celebrating with 500,000 supporters proved to be too alluring. Nikola Jokic’s excitement and enjoyment of the procession give the impression that the choice could have been well worth it.

The Joker is a key player and leads by example and thus he decided to stay with his team somehow managing his tight schedule and giving priority to his team over going home. Thus proving Kevin Garnett right that The Joker stands apart from the rest of the people in the league.
