It looks like Indiana Pacers star Buddy Hield will be making an exit from the Pacers after a short but productive tenure. The three-point scoring maestro made his debut with the Indiana side in the month of February in 2022 after being traded as a part of the Domantas Sabonis deal.
Although his arrival was much awaited at the Pacers, he wasn’t able to win any silverware there. Hield’s short stint with the franchise can be said to be a good one-time run but seemingly now it’s time for him to go.
The Pacers looking to trade Buddy Hield
It has been reported that the negotiations regarding Buddy Hield’s contract extension have fallen out and now the Pacers will look to find a trade offer for him. As per Shams Charania on his X account, the contract extension negotiations stalled out between both the parties and now the Indiana Pacers and Buddy Hield are in the process of finding potential trade options.
He is in his last year of contract with the Pacers right now and it looks like the extension contract offered was not lucrative enough for the leading three-point scorer of the NBA to feel wanted.
Hield is a three-point shooting expert who has won the 2020 and 2023 three-point contest championship. He currently is the leading three-point scorer in the NBA leaving the Warrior’s Stephen Curry and Portland Trail Blazers’ Damian Lillard in the second and third positions respectively.
Potential landing spot for Buddy Hield
There can be many potential landing spots for Buddy Hield given his elite skill of abilities. Apart from his shooting expertise, the Pacers star’s rebounding and passing skills are also among the best in the league. He can play as a shooting guard or a small forward thanks to his versatility. Many teams would be on the lookout for him.
However, we might see him ending up at the Los Angeles Lakers. The Lakers went after Hield in 2022 but failed to land him. Fans believe that the Lakers would try once again, now that he would be up for trade soon. It would be interesting to see which team Hield would end up signing and who will be traded to play at the Indiana Pacers in exchange for him.
