NBA trade rumors: Sterling Brown not to be returning to Lakers following his 10-day contract expired

As the current report stands, the Los Angeles Lakers have five players included in the injury report—heavy names like Lebron James, Anthony Davis, and Lonnie Walker made the list. To fulfill the 15-man active roster, they had to sign Sterling Brown to a 10-day contract.

James’ injury is not so serious at this moment, therefore he was included in the starting lineup against the Houston Rockets. Still, they had to include NBA G League player Sterling Brown on January 6 to meet the 15-man roster, which expired last night.

What is the most recent Lakers rumor about Sterling Brown?

It is now confirmed that the Lakers have not pursued the 27-year-old for a second time after his short tenure was over. Brown immediately returned to his previous Canadian franchise, the Toronto Raptors 905.

In the meantime, Brown had appeared in four games adding nothing to the scoreboard in those total of 24 minutes, and the only contribution he could put was eight rebounds in ten days.

It appears the Lakers don’t want to waste any more money on the player and would rather go with a 14-man roster with the option to add another player until the injured player returns.

There were several names on the radar of the Lakers before Sterling Brown’s arrival, like DeMarcus Cousins, Cody Zeller, and Meyers Leonard. However, as the revaluation date approaches, the Lakers might wait for Austin or Lonnie.

Sterling was drafted in 2017 and picked 46th overall by the Philadelphia 76ers. Later, he was traded to the Milwaukee Bucks and made his NBA debut there. The 27-year-old seems to have trouble finding a suitable team, as the athlete had to move frequently over the last five years.

The Lakers went into the game against the Rockets hoping to snap a three-game losing streak. Their injury problem throughout this season has taken a huge toll, as they are still the 13th seed in the Western Conference.
