The Seattle Seahawks are in a favorable position to get a rare privilege at the end of the NFL regular season. But the current 3-game losing streak may lead them to miss this opportunity, which no team has been able to clinch in recent memory.
The Seahawks’ last game (10-24) against the Kansas City Chiefs pushed their dream a little further away. For the last few weeks, it appeared that the Seahawks would make the playoffs this season. Nevertheless, they still have a chance, but that depends on some complex equation of ifs and buts.

How could the Seattle Seahawks go through the playoffs?
The Seahawks have two more regular-season games to win, against the New York Jets and the Los Angeles Rams. Furthermore, they must rely on other teams, such as the Green Bay Packers and the Washington Commanders. They must each lose at least one game in their final games. There are other ways to ensure it, but this appears to be the simplest way to get into the playoffs.
If the Seahawks make the playoffs, it will create another rare opportunity in the draft picking order. If everything goes as planned, the Seattle Seahawks will enter the playoffs with the top three draft picks.
How would the Seattle Seahawks land three first-round picks?
In contrast to their league standing, the Seahawks’ draft prospects are quite promising. Seattle traded quarterback Russell Wilson to the Denver Broncos for two first-round picks, two second-round picks, and one fifth-round pick, along with quarterback Drew Lock, defensive lineman Shelby Harris, and tight end Noah Fant. The deal appears to be a ripe apple from the tree that fell on their lap.
Furthermore, if the Broncos lose their final two games against the Kansas City Chiefs and the Los Angeles Chargers, the Seahawks will have another chance at the overall number one pick. To be sure, the Houston Texans have to win their last two games against the Jaguars and Colts, and the Chicago Bears have to win at least one of their games against the Lions and Vikings.
If all of these happened mathematically, the Seattle Seahawks would finish the season with a playoff spot and the top three draft picks, a first in this century. The last time any team achieved this kind of privilege was the New York Jets in 2000.
