It is time for Alec Ogletree to bid adieu to the ravishing NFL ground on the verge of a lifetime hiatus, he is retiring at the age of 31. The news of his retirement came earlier Wednesday through an Instagram post.
He broke out the news of his departure from the league with a heartfelt, cordial post expressing gratitude for his former teams, the Rams, Giants, Jets, and Bears along with some sweet words dedicated to his wife who stood by him through thick and thin.
Alec Ogletree’s NFL career overview
Georgia native Alec went to Newnan high school and later attended college in Georgia. His NFL career found its track through the 2013 NFL draft. Los Angeles Rams selected him as the round one thirty overall pick.
The Linebacker got his first-ever NFL contract which was $7.03 million for four years from the Rams. And his active days started within the league with a speedy momentum. Soon, the footballer rose to fane depending on his strong defensive potential.
In 2016, he won the title of second-team All-Pro which was his first stepping stone to an envious career line. From 2013 to 2017, he was part of the Rams and later moved to the New York Giants in 2018.
Over the period of nine seasons, the football donned many jerseys. After his tenure with the Giants, he became part of the New York Jets and Chicago Bears respectively in 2020 and 2021.
He played his last season with the Bears in 2021 when he appeared in 16 games and was very ecstatic to play after getting united with his former Rams teammate Linebacker Robert Quinn. In his final season, Alec Ogletree attained 16 combined tackles, 4 pass deflections, and a forced fumble.

Alec summed up his retirement message online stating,
“And just like that it’s a wrap. Thank you @nfl @rams@nygiants @nyjets @chicagobearsfor allowing me to play 9 unforgettable years in the league!!! Thank you to all my teammates that I got a chance to play with and know over the years!!Thank you to my wife @alexogletree03.14 for being there to support, pick me up, help, correct, whatever the case may be…lol there are many things I could say about you and how blessed I am to have you in my life but I appreciate your love for me and our family!!!”
Alec Ogletree’s bond with the NFL team Rams
Out of his nine years in NFL, the LB spent five seasons with the Rams and over such a long period, he seems to have developed a strong bond with the team. Besides the most prestigious honor in his career of becoming a Second Team All-Pro came during his active roaster with the Rams.
He had 367 solo tackles with the team along with 136 assists,5.5 sacks, and 6 receptions over the course of his tenure.
