WWE has hosted many events in India in the past, but unlike Mexico, France, and Saudi Arabia, Indian wrestling fans have never seen a PLE in their country. It’s disappointing to see that while India is one of their biggest markets, with a massive global appeal, no flagship event has ever taken place there.
However, it seems like their dreams are finally coming true. Recently, President Nick Khan confirmed plans to host the company’s first-ever flagship event in India in the coming year.
In a recent media interaction, Nick Khan shared that WWE plans to host its first-ever PLE in India, penciling it in for 2026 or 2027. He emphasized India’s importance to WWE, stating, “That’s the goal, and we’re pencilling out 2026 and 2027 now… Without asking, Netflix handed us a list of their priority countries. At the top of that list was India.”

This announcement comes as the Stamford-based company prepares to move its content to Netflix in India starting on April 1, 2025. The partnership will make WWE shows like Monday Night RAW, SmackDown, and NXT available to Indian fans.
Netflix’s success in India, with popular Indian movies, partnerships like Shah Rukh Khan’s production house, and shows like “Kapil Sharma” and “CID,” signals a huge potential for WWE’s growth in the region. With the support of the streaming platform, Khan is confident that India will become a major revenue source for WWE next year.
Wrestling fans thrilled as WWE confirms exciting plans for India
For years, India has been an important place for WWE, with millions of fans watching their favorite superstars. They have held live events in India before, like the 2017 Live event in New Delhi and the 2023 Superstar Spectacle in Hyderabad, where Indian fans showed a lot of excitement.
Now, fans are reacting very positively on social media to the latest updates.
