“No one can f**k with the scale” Joe Rogan Reveals UFC Appointed Security to Guard Weigh-in Scale 24/7

UFC 274 was one of the best UFC events of the year. But it did not earn the acclaim just for the fights, but also for the controversies involved. One of the main controversies was Lightweight Champion Charles Oliveira being stripped of his title after missing weight. UFC commentator and podcast host Joe Rogan broke down how the problem came to being, and what the UFC has done to solve it.

“That’s who he (Oliveira) is. He is a very, very nice guy. He got screwed in his last fight. There was some shenanigans with the scale; some people had messed with the scale. Here is a problem with the digital scales: foreign fighters use kilograms, but in America we obviously use pounds. These scales are calibrated and they foreign fighters reset the scale so they could switch back to kilograms. This messes up the whole calibration. He (Oliveira) weighed in the night before the weigh-ins, and thought he was good to go. And then in the morning he shows up for the weight cut, and it’s a pound plus off. and that is directly related to this calibration thing.”

Joe Rogan also stated what measures the UFC has undertaken to prevent such incidents happening in the future.

“Now the UFC have a new policy regarding this- they have a guard who watches over the scale 24-hours a day. They have shifts, where no one can f*ck with the scale. If you go on the scale to weigh yourself, they are gonna watch you like a hawk so that you don’t press any buttons. Just get on, see your weight, and get off.”
