Jon Jones, the former UFC light heavyweight champion, has been making headlines recently with his move up to the heavyweight division.

Jon Jones does not want Sergei Pavlovich

The American wants to prove that he is the best in the world. For this, he is ready to take on the toughest opponents in the division.
Riding high on the spectacular victory against Cyril Gane, Jones is looking for his next fight. Jones’ first opponent in the heavyweight. Sergei Pavlovich, boasting a record of 18-1 can be the title contender. The Russian is flying high on a six-game winning streak. After his stupendous victory against Curtis Blaydes on April 22, people see him as the only worthy opponent to Jones. The knockout machine himself wanted a title shot after his TKO victory on UFC fight night 222.
Jones did not seem to have high respect for Pavlovich. The heavyweight champ also made it clear that he’s not seeing him as a potential opponent. Having said that, he does not plan to hang around for long in this division. And, he does not think that Pavlovich is a worthy opponent for him, “Everyone is talking about Sergei, and Sergei is a huge challenge but no one knows who he is.”

Could Francis Ngannou be an option?
Jones discussed his future in the heavyweight division. He expressed his desire to fight the best in the division, including former champions Stipe Miocic and Francis Ngannou. However, he also acknowledged that he’s not in a rush to take on those fights. Jones claimed that his eyes are set on Miocic. The two are in talks to hold a fight in November. On the other hand, Jones will change his mind only if Ngannou returns to UFC.
Jones said, “I want to fight the best in the division, but I also want to do it on my terms. I’m not going to rush into anything, and I’m going to make sure that I’m fully prepared for any fight that I take on.” Moving up to the heavyweight division presents a new set of challenges for him. And he’s taking his time to make sure that he’s fully prepared for any fight that he takes on.
