Greg Olsen is determined to compete with recently retired Tom Brady for the lead analyst role at Fox Sports but is not going to die for the role. After retiring from the Seattle Seahawks at the end of the 2021 season, the former tight end officially joined the TV network and began his new career alongside Kevin Burkhardt.
Following Greg Olsen’s first full-time year in the broadcast booth, FOX Sports promoted him and Kevin Burkhardt to become the network’s top commentary team ahead of the start of the previous season. However, we all are aware that Brady will possibly join FOX this year. It will eventually affect Olsen’s position as the lead analyst.
According to a report by The Post Andrew Marchand of The Post, if Greg Olsen is demoted from his current position as a lead analyst at Fox Sports to the network’s second team, his annual salary of $10 million would be reduced to $3 million.
Olsen discussed this matter on Wednesday, as reported by Queen City News, “Tom Brady — I’m sure you all read those new articles last week, you couldn’t escape it. But my answer every time was, ‘I have all the respect in the world for Tom Brady.’ Who doesn’t, right? He’s the greatest, I get it. I understand why they went after him, but I’m not going to roll over and die.”
Last month, Olsen acknowledged that he understood the situation he had agreed to with Fox Sports. However, he did express that it would be disappointing if Brady’s arrival caused him and Kevin Burkhardt to be separated, stating that it would “suck”.
On the Waddle and Silvy radio show on ESPN 1000 in Chicago, he said, “Listen, if Brady ends up retiring and coming, and decides, and that’s how everything unfolds, it sucks. But at the end of the day, I’m a big boy. I know what I signed up for. I took a chance on myself. I rolled the dice. Let’s see how it plays out.”
The situation is going to get worse for Oslen if Brady joins FOX. Let’s see how FOX will handle the situation.
