Novak Djokovic coach Goran Ivanisevic’s income exposed by Croatian outlets amid ex-tennis star’s legal woes

Novak Djokovic is one of the highest-earning tennis stars in the world. Boasting a net worth of $240 million, $170 million of which are on-court earnings, the Serbian has steadily amassed a fortune through decades of top-level sportsmanship and elite tennis success.

Naturally, it is expected that the staff working around the clock with the 24-time grand slam champion will be paid heavily in order to sustain his high levels of fitness and performance requirements. However, while a recent report corroborates the high salary provided by Djokovic for his coach, Goran Ivanisevic, it also details some recent financial troubles for the Croatian.

Djokovic’s coach Ivanisevic’s salary unveiled

Novak Djokovic teamed up with Croatian former player Goran Ivanisevic in 2019, and the pair have gone on to achieve many successes together. Under Ivanisevic’s tutelage, Djokovic has won nine out of his 15 grand slams, in addition to two final appearances.

According to Croatian news magazine Nacional, Ivanisevic is reportedly drawing a weekly income of €6,000–€10,000, which extrapolates to €300,000–€500,000 per year. Additionally, the Croatian is stipulated to earn a bonus of 10 percent of Djokovic’s prize money each time the Serbian wins a grand slam. If this is true, Ivanisevic would have earned €300,000 for Djokovic’s three Grand Slam victories in 2023.

The reported salary places Goran Ivanisevic among the highest-paid top-level coaches in tennis present in the scene. Neither Djokovic nor Goran have publicly discussed his salary, and the report remains to be judged true through fact-checking. Nevertheless, the pair remains one of the most destructive coach-player duos on the tennis circuit today.

“I am happy to train a genius, the best tennis player of all time and one of the best athletes in general. It’s unfortunate that only wins count. The final is not good, it’s like you didn’t even come to the tournament,” Goran Ivanisevic said of his partnership with Novak Djokovic.

While Goran is living the high life by earning a good amount of money working with Novak, the Croatian recently underwent some financial and legal troubles that were also detailed in the report by Nacional.

Ivanisevic files lawsuit against ex-wife

Goran Ivanisevic recently filed a lawsuit against his ex-wife, Tatjana Dragovic, and daughter, Amber Maria, regarding a financial dispute. Ivanisevic and Dragovic married in 2009 and had two children. They divorced in 2013, after which Goran remarried and had a son.

Nacional reported that Ivanisevic had filed two lawsuits, one claiming half of an apartment he and Dragovic had gifted their daughter Amber in Zagreb. The other lawsuit was filed to reclaim a 2.5 million euro loan provided to Dragovic by Ivanisevic. This resulted in the court freezing Dragovic’s accounts and prohibiting the sale of the property.

Dragovic was incensed with the court order and claimed that Ivanisevic influenced the court and abused her and their daughter Amber. Ivanisevic took to social media to quash these allegations by his ex-wife and said that his sole intent was to recover finances paid by him during his marriage with Dragovic.

“To start…the moment I dared to seek the money I earned before and during the marriage, which T.D. appropriated despite all laws and contracts, I became a family abuser and the court’s favorite,” he wrote on Instagram.

Ivanisevic’s wife, Nives Canovic, extended her support in the comments.

“Justice is slow, but attainable (heart emoji),” she commented.
