Novak Djokovic shells out $40k to neighbour Chris Rock in search of “tranquility” in $40,000,000 mansion

As an elite tennis athlete, Novak Djokovic ensures every part of his routine and lifestyle enables him to produce quality results on the court. From his unique diet to his entrepreneurial ventures, the Serbian ensures that quality precedes every aspect of his approach.

In a step taken to guarantee minimal public interference, solitude, and focus, top tennis stars often opt out of staying in the discounted hotels that the US Open offers for accommodation. Players like Roger Federer, Andy Murray, and Novak Djokovic have stayed in homes situated in close proximity to the stadium, where they relax and recuperate after a match and utilize the isolation to prepare well for the next match.

Novak Djokovic reportedly rents $40 million mansion in New Jersey

Nearing the culmination of a stellar 2023 season, where he has won the Australian Open, French Open, Cincinnati Open and was a Wimbledon finalist, Novak Djokovic is back in the Big Apple for the US Open after a 1-year hiatus.

In order to effectively prepare in his quest for a fourth title, the 36-year-old is avoiding staying at the InterContinental New York Barclay or the Lexington Hotel – which are the US Open’s official hotels. Instead, he is reportedly renting a $40 million estate premise that encloses a state-of-the-art tennis facility. The property belongs to Gordon Uehling, a former professional tennis player.

The 40-acre premise is equipped with outdoor and indoor tennis courts of hard, clay, and grass kinds. The courts come installed with advanced technology that can provide effective data analysis on a player’s game.

The estate is located in Alpine, New Jersey, which is the most expensive place to live in the US. Hip-hop artists and movie stars are among those who stay in lavish mansions in the area and form a neighborhood for the ultra-rich. Novak Djokovic is reportedly paying $40,000 to rent the property from Gordon and will be neighboring stand-up comedian and actor Chris Rock during his two-week stay.

“Normally before the tournament starts, I’m in the (New York) city. Once the tournament starts, we go into full lockdown mode. My friend has a beautiful estate there with tennis courts. Just me and my family, we stay there. We have a relaxing time. It’s great in the off days between the matches, you just kind of recharge, rejuvenate, and you’re able to come out and really have more energy. I just feel like the city is amazing, but after a while, it starts being a distraction. When the tournament starts, what you need is the tranquility, just taking things day by day,” Djokovic said.

Djokovic returned to US Open following 2022 absence

2022 was a tumultuous season for Novak Djokovic. He was denied entry at the Australian Open, several ATP Masters tournaments in the United States, and the US Open. The reason was his highly publicized anti-vaccination stance that invoked the ire of tournament officials, politicians, and fans alike.

His political deportation from Australia and the disappointment of not being allowed to play in the US Open prompted the Serbian to issue a statement via an interview, where he said, “The decision-making on my body is more important than any title. As an elite professional athlete, I have always carefully analyzed what enters my body from food, drinks, and vaccines.”

However, this year is different. The US Open has relaxed its vaccination rules, mainly due to the dwindling effects of the COVID-19 virus. Novak Djokovic is back in New York to play in Flushing Meadows, where he will aim to replicate his recent form. In the buildup to the tournament, he defeated Carlos Alcaraz in the longest-ever ATP match ever played to lift the Cincinnati Open championship.

He is now through to the third round of the US Open after straight-set victories over Alexandre Muller and Bernabe Zapata Miralles in the first two rounds. He will aim to win the championship and level with Margaret Court’s all-time record of 24 grand slam titles.

Novak Djokovic is ensuring he is in top shape for the US Open by staying at the estate property in New Jersey. Do you think the solitude will mentally aid him in overcoming the challenge of his opponents? Can the Serbian win his fourth US Open title? Let us know in the comments section below.
