Nuggets Guard Shares Big Thoughts On Russell Westbrook’s First Season With Denver

Russell Westbrook is starting his first season with the Denver Nuggets after two good seasons with the Los Angeles Clippers. Westbrook, who will be entering his 17th season with jersey number four, has been named to the All-Star team nine times.

The 2023 champion Nuggets signed him for 6.8 million dollars to fill a key spot on the team. Interestingly, he has a new admirer on the squad who has been a fan of Westbrook’s playing ever since he was a kid.

The Westbrook fan we’re talking about is Nuggets guard Christian Braun. In an interview with The Denver Post, Braun shared how he has admired Westbrook’s game since he was young. He said, “I loved his game when I was young.”

As DenverPost transcribed, Braun added, “I love his game now. I think his energy, his tenacity, those are all things that every team needs. He loves the game. He plays it with the right intensity. … The way he plays, downhill, so aggressive, so tough.”

Russell Westbrook, the 2017 Most Valuable Player, is currently at a stage in his career where many of his teammates first witnessed him play. Here, it’s clear that Nuggets guard Christian Braun fits in the same category.

Russell Westbrook and Christian Braun’s adorable jersey number battle

When reports surfaced that Christian Braun denied Russell Westbrook’s request for jersey No. 0, the Denver Nuggets grabbed everyone’s attention. Now wearing No. 4, Russell Westbrook reportedly asked Christian Braun for his favorite jersey number.

Later, Harrison Wind, a Denver beat writer, shared that Braun has decided to stay at No. 0. Initially, fans believed the teammates slightly disagreed over the jersey number.

However, Westbrook quickly clarified on Instagram, posting, ”[Christian Braun] and I never discussed him passing along the number 0. I didn’t want, inquire about, or request the number 0…. [Christian Braun] and I are locked in and ready to get things rockin’ in the Mile High City!”,
