Octagon to help African basketball players make it to the NBA as they launch a new venture

Octagon, a global sports marketing and talent representation agency, has recently launched Octagon54. This new initiative aims to support African basketball players and make them into professional basketball players. The focus is on helping these players find opportunities in the professional game.

Octagon is expanding its basketball operations in Africa after North America and Europe. This move aligns with the NBA’s growing focus on Africa, especially since the Basketball Africa League (BAL) launch in 2019.

Luol Deng, a global ambassador for BAL and an investor in NBA Africa, will play a crucial role in the Africa-focused venture. His experience hosting talent camps worldwide after his playing days will contribute significantly to the venture’s efforts.

Octagon’s new initiative aims to be a game-changer, helping African basketball players to make it into the NBA. They plan to support these players through various stages, including high school and college basketball programs.

Furthermore, Octagon54, as part of its strategy, will work on impactful programs and partnerships to empower communities and drive positive social change.

“At Octagon54, we are dedicated to creating a legacy that goes beyond basketball,” said Shade, director of Octagon Basketball. “With Luol and Steve’s knowledge and commitment, we are confident that Octagon54 will not only elevate basketball talent in Africa but also drive positive social impact and inspire future generations of athletes.”

Meanwhile, Octagon Europe is undergoing a transitory phase as there has been a change among their top ranks.

Michael Roll will act as Octagon Europe CEO

Former pro basketball player Michael Roll will now work behind the scenes as Chief Operations Officer for Octagon Europe, an agency company.

“Everybody knows that Michael Roll was a smooth operator and a top quality player in all his years of playing basketball at the highest level,” they first announced on social media, welcoming the experienced American-Tunisian guard.
