Following the end of the off-season and all the fun that comes with it, the Formula 1 drivers are back on the racetracks, and busy racing against each other wheel-to-wheel. The new season is livelier and more competitive than ever, courtesy of the young F1 speedsters, who bring the off-season’s fun back into the game, now and then.
Talking about the F1 youngsters, McLaren’s rookie driver, Oscar Piastri, recently teased the Mercedes young man, George Russell, in a special tweet.
Oscar Piastri roasts George Russell
McLaren’s jolly youngster Oscar Piastri, who often carries sarcasm in media sessions, has recently handpicked Mercedes’ George Russell as his latest ‘roast’ victim.
On Sunday, March 3rd, Oscar Piastri uploaded a ‘close-up’ picture of a certain poster featuring George Russell, and tweeted on X (formerly Twitter) with the caption “You nicked my barber’s details?”
Piastri was clearly pointing out Russell’s hairstyle, which looked quite similar to his own, and sarcastically asked the Englishman whether the hairstyle was done by his [Piastri’s] barber or not.
This is, of course, done with a good sense of humor, one which the F1 racers took in as a fun, and not as a disrespect.
This isn’t the first time Oscar Piastri has pulled Russell’s legs off the track- in fact, this is the second time in a week that he has taken a hilarious dig at the Mercedes man.
Piastri exposes George Russell over WhatsApp group action
Prior to the tweet on Sunday, Oscar Piastri hilariously and ‘unintentionally’ exposed George Russell in a media session with BuzzFeed UK on February 26.
During the session, Oscar Piastri was seen replying to the fans’ tweets, when the topic of ‘F1 drivers’ WhatsApp group’ entered the scene.
Talking about the racers’ WhatsApp group, he stated that the F1 drivers do have a WhatsApp group, which is used to discuss ‘serious issues’ only.
As he was talking about the group, the host interrupted him and asked, “Do people get removed from that group?”
Piastri laughed and replied by saying, “Yes. People do get removed!”.
The host followed up by asking who removed the group members. “I think the GPDA admin”, the McLaren racer replied after giving it some thought.
However, the fans were still unaware that George Russell is one of the GPDA administrators, which he became a part of after replacing Romain Grosjean as a GDPA director in 2020.
Anyway, aside from joking, Oscar Piastri and George Russell will come up against each other on March 9 at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.
