Minor league baseball teams continue to sign players for upcoming games during the offseason trade period in baseball.
Angel Sanchez’s new signing for a minor league team confirms the previous statement. The 33-year-old had not played in any competitive games for over a year. However, the San Diego Padres have been keeping a keen eye on him for some time.
What is the recent update on Angel Sanchez’s deal?
Sanchez was signed to a minor league contract by the Padres yesterday. The deal includes an opportunity to play in major leagues.
Previously, the right-handed player played for the Korean team SK Wyverns and the Japanese Yumiuri Giants. He also won the Korean Series in 2018.
The pitcher didn’t get much chance to gather major league experience. He only appeared in 8 games for the Angels, allowing 5 home runs and striking out 10.
Furthermore, his last major league appearance was five years ago for the Pittsburgh Pirates, which made it more difficult for him to reappear in MLB for the Padres.
However, his overseas record wasn’t that stale as he achieved a 4.14 ERA. So, there is no viable sign of his projected performance yet.
What do you think about Angel Sanchez’s signing with the San Diego Padres? Can he become a prominent figure in the MLB?
