The Kansas City Chiefs have signed Lamar Jackson ahead of the 2023 NFL season, albeit he is not the 2019 NFL regular season MVP that most people may think, rather this Jackson is a former New York Jets cornerback sharing the same name.
Besides this move, the Chiefs also signed defensive tackles Matt Dickerson and Chris Williams as well as waived defensive back Martez Manuel and released defensive tackle, Byron Cowart.

The Nebraska Defensive MVP stepped into a full-time starting cornerback role as a sophomore in 2017 and finished the year with 38 tackles, the most by any NU cornerback.
Jackson started 11 games and played in all 12 contests as a junior in 2018 inking 28 tackles, seven pass breakups, and his first two career interceptions.
The Chiefs new CB started every game in his final season as a senior and recorded a career-high 40 tackles, four TFLs, one forced fumble, two fumble recoveries, three interceptions, and 12 pass breakups.
The dual-threat was an undrafted free agent in 2020 and appeared in 14 games for the New York Jets in 2020 and 2021 before splitting last season between the Chicago Bears and Denver Broncos in a span of a year.
He recorded 31 tackles and four passes defended in 22 total games and will now share the Chiefs’ room with veteran players like Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, Tyrann Matthieu, Morris Claiborne, Eric Warfield, and Sean Smith.
The addition of Jackson is just the latest move by the Chiefs in what has been a busy offseason. With the team looking to build on its success in recent years and make another run at the Super Bowl, fans can expect plenty more exciting news and announcements in the coming months.
