With a record-breaking number of Super Bowl wins, many refer to Tom Brady as one of the greatest quarterbacks in NFL history. Meanwhile, many fans and NFL experts now believe Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes might be on the path to matching Brady’s greatness.
At just 29 years old, Mahomes is already leading his team to their third straight Super Bowl, showing he’s got what it takes to chase history. However, Pat was quick to shut down those comparisons.
The Chiefs aim to make NFL history by being the first team to win three Super Bowls in a row. Now, as they head to Super Bowl LIX under Patrick Mahomes’ leadership, he shared his thoughts on the debate surrounding his place in the “Greatest of All Time” (GOAT) conversation.
While extremely impressive, it’s also why takes saying Patrick Mahomes is already the GOAT are absurd. As amazing as his career has been, if he does it all over again, his playoff resume will still be the same as Tom Brady’s. While still being miles behind in career comp stats. https://t.co/CxbGfrCdC1

He said, “It’s obviously really cool. That’s your goal. To win in the postseason. I’ve been blessed to be on a lot of great football teams with a lot of great coaches and a great organization.”
He added, “I just try to maximize every moment because you never know when it’s going to be your last one. I know I’m a long way from Tom. So, I’ll try to do whatever I can to get close to that.”
Patrick Mahomes reacts to his big runs against Bills
In Sunday’s AFC Championship win over the Bills, the Chiefs leaned on Patrick Mahomes’ running game as much as his passing. Mahomes ran 11 times for 43 yards and scored two touchdowns.
In the postgame press conference, Mahomes explained his strategy: “They always give me options to kind of pull the ball and run it. And they were playing man coverage a lot of the day and putting a lot of attention on Travis.”
With their attention on him, lanes opened up, and he took the advantage. His runs created chaos for the Bills’ defense, opening opportunities for receivers Xavier Worthy and JuJu Smith-Schuster, while Kelce’s presence drew defenders away.
