“I’m coming back to play in the CFL,” he said.
His comments drew laughter from the audience. And he even suggested that the coach in attendance should bring him a contract.
“Coach here? Bring your contract up,” he added pointing towards Campbell.

During his nine-year career with the New England Patriots, Gronkowski established himself as one of the NFL’s top tight ends. He set several single-season records. And he was a five-time first-team All-Pro, five-time Pro Bowler, and three-time Super Bowl champion. He was also recognized as a member of the NFL’s all-decade team of the 2010s and the NFL’s 100th-anniversary all-time team in 2020.
Following his initial retirement in 2018, Gronkowski returned to the NFL to play for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers alongside former teammate Tom Brady. The duo won their fourth championship together in Super Bowl LV in 2020. And Gronkowski retired for the second time after the 2021 season.
Since retiring, Gronkowski has kept busy as a host of WWE WrestleMania and as a staple of Fox’s NFL coverage. While it’s unlikely he will ever join the CFL team, the idea of him catching touchdown passes from Vernon Adams Jr. is certainly a fun fantasy. With his fun-loving nature and successful career, Gronkowski is sure to remain a television favourite for years to come.
