Yesterday night’s match between Nick Ball and Ludumo Lamati saw both boxers duking it out in an attempt to continue their impressive winning streaks in professional boxing. The South African boxer’s endeavor, however, ended in a major shock.
Nick and Lamati clashed at Belfast, Northern Ireland’s SSE Arena. With a technical knockout in the 12th round, the British boxer put an end to the South African’s unbeaten professional record. What followed, however, was completely unexpected.
Ludumo Lamati, who sustained the first loss of his career tonight (TKO 12), was carried out of the ring on a stretcher after collapsing several minutes after the bout ended.

What happened to Ludumo Lamati?
Lamati entered the ring last night in an attempt to extend his winning streak to 21. However, after experiencing his first defeat, he lost consciousness in the ring and collapsed on the canvas. Concern over Lamati’s health spread throughout the entire arena.
According to the referee, ‘9mm’ was doing okay and had full consciousness before the final round and gave consent to continue. The 31-year-old boxer was taken away on a stretcher after his collapse.
Ludumo was immediately taken to the nearest hospital in Belfast. As there was no emergency ambulance parked at the arena, the process took some time which caused a delay for the other bouts of the card to take place.

Nick Ball didn’t celebrate his TKO win
Concerns regarding Lamati’s health resisted his ring opponent from celebrating his victory. The Briton expressed his thoughts for the South African boxer in the post-fight press conference.
“The main thing is Lamati’s health. I hope he’s alright. I will be even more happy when I know that because boxing is no joke.” Nick said.
Nick too came as an undefeated boxer to face Lamati in the SSE Arena. His records now stand at 18-0-0, with 11 of his victories coming via KOs. However, Ball seems to be hoping for nothing but Ludumo’s quick recovery at this moment.
“You have got some people not taking it seriously. You can lose your life in here, so the main thing is his health.” Nick added.
