PSG manager hints Kylian Mbappe exit after dropping 24-year-old from Japan tour, citing an urgent need for fresh players

Paris Saint-Germain has brought former Barcelona and Spain manager Luis Enrique on board in order to build a winning project at the club. The manager will hope to finalize his squad for the upcoming season to prepare adequately before the 2023-24 season kicks off.

PSG are currently on a pre-season tour in Japan where they will face Cristiano Ronaldo and Al-Nassr amongst other matches. The team is in for a huge overhaul with the departure of the likes of Lionel Messi. PSG’s overhaul will continue over the next month, with the club leaving back players who they consider as removed from “the project.” Among those left behind is one of the biggest names in Paris, Kylian Mbappe.

The French striker has been the talk of the transfer window after the player notified the hierarchy of his decision to not renew his contract with the Parisians. It looks like his future is hanging up in the air. The left-behind superstar is training in Paris amidst genuine interest from many leagues throughout the world.

Luis Enrique hints Kylian Mbappe exit

Luis Enrique attended a press conference ahead of their clash with Al-Nassr, where he was obviously bombarded with questions about Kylian as well as transfers in general. The Spanish head coach was clear in publicly admitting the club’s approach, with an implicit underlying thought relating to Mbappe.

The new PSG manager quoted: “Some departures need to be made. We also need new signings. We will use these matches on tour to see how we feel with the impact of the squad.”

There was no mincing of words from the treble-winning manager, with the soccer faithful understanding that the message was indeed hinted at the departure of Kylian Mbappe.

Kylian Mbappe is a mercurial forward, with amazing dribbling, football intelligence, and finishing, basically making him a once-in-a-lifetime player. There obviously is genuine interest from a host of teams including the likes of Real Madrid, Chelsea, Manchester United, Arsenal, and Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Al-Hilal has reportedly submitted a world record fee for the striker, with a total package of $330 million. Such a fee will break the world record set by PSG to land Kylian in Paris and will recoup a majority of the sum invested by the Parisians. The player, however, wishes to continue in Europe and win the UEFA Champions League and the Ballon d’Or, which will not be possible after a move to the middle east.

The player is yet to enter into negotiations with Al-Hilal, but PSG is convinced that Mbappe will move to Real Madrid, as they apprehend the player has agreed on a contract there.

PSG to bolster squad with new signings

Due to the massive outflow, PSG is expected to bolster the squad with new signings. Luis Enrique will also be looking forward to having a finalized squad to actually prepare for the upcoming season. The Ligue 1 champions have already completed the signing of French center-back, Lucas Hernandez, Milan Skriniar, Xavi Simons, Marco Asensio, and Manual Ugarte.

PSG are linked with a move for Manchester City right-winger Bernardo Silva, who can be an apt replacement for Lionel Messi. The club also had some initial contacts with England forward Harry Kane and Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic but hasn’t made a bid for either of the players. After exit rumors relating to Mbappe, PSG have also been bleakly linked to Man United forward Marcus Rashford. However, the Red Devils have tied the player to Old Trafford after officially confirming his new contract.
