PSG optimistic for Kylian Mbappe to play vs Bayern Munich in UEFA Champions League round of 16

PSG will be hosting Bayern Munich on February 14 at the Parc Des Princes in a high-voltage UEFA Champions League Round of 16 clash after both sides were drawn against one another following the group stage progression.

Bayern Munich and Paris Saint Germain shared a rivalry between them as the two domestic champions crossed each other’s way far too often and sparked a fire on the pitch.

In recent two UCL events, PSG and Bayern knocked each other out with significantly Bayern beat Paris in the final of 2020 and bagged the trophy for Munich.

However, the French champions always felt somewhat cursed at this competition after failing to win the trophy despite showing promise and now they have news to worry.

Mbappe suffered a thigh injury during PSG’s 3-1 win over Montpellier on February 2 and PSG medical team expected at least three weeks to recover the injury of the PSG number 7.

However, Bayern manager Julian Nagelsmann believed the other way as Mbappe will never miss the Bayern game, and what PSG are spreading is not completely realistic.

“I don’t believe he’s going to miss the game (against Bayern). I expect him to play. I don’t know what he has. The statement on PSG’s website is pretty vague. I can’t imagine him missing the game.”- Julian Nagelsmann commented on the availability of Kylian Mbappe.

According to Le Parisien, there is a TINY chance that Kylian Mbappé will be in the squad against Bayern Munich. In this case, he would be on the bench & perhaps play for 15 minutes. Mbappé is making double steps to return earlier than the three weeks of absence initially planned.

PSG are desperate and doing everything they can to make the superstar ready for the high-octane clash, even for a late cameo as he is expected to be among the list of players who will make it to the squad.
