Paris Saint Germain superstar Neymar Jr is close to a move to Manchester United as rumors of his exit become stronger.
According to a French report, Manchester United is in discussions to recruit Neymar from PSG this summer.
PSG is willing to part with the 31-year-old this summer, and Neymar is thinking about leaving after a very difficult season. Both he and superstar Lionel Messi have been regularly mocked by the club’s supporters.
Why does Neymar Jr want to leave PSG?
Fans did not spare Neymar a month back. In a video uploaded on social media, several fans gathered in front of the Brazilian’s home with megaphones, flares, and banners, expressing their displeasure with the star’s performances and recent injury issues.
Neymar later shared a post condemning the behavior of the fans. In an Instagram post, he said, “Don’t let others bring you into their storm, bring them into your peace.”
Neymar Jr has also suffered a season-ending injury in March. The Brazilian has been regularly sidelined ever since he joined the club from Barcelona in a record-breaking transfer. This coupled with the lack of Champions League success from such an expensive player has led to him getting considerable hate from the fans. The ultras have repeatedly asked the player to leave the club.
All of this has led Neymar to grow frustrated and he is now looking for an exit, with PSG also wanting the player to leave to free up space on the huge wage bill.
Manchester United favorite to buy the Brazilian
Manchester United is also close to being bought by new owners after a new bid was submitted from Qatar. If the Qatari takeover happens, the new owner will invest heavily in the club. This includes a heavy transfer war chest to bolster the Red Devils this summer. They will have enough finances to bring in Neymar, who will definitely be expensive.
Casemiro, Neymar’s Brazilian international teammate, is urging United to sign the ex-Barcelona player. The Red Devils would love to take him on a season-long loan, but the French club would prefer to unload him permanently.

According to L’Equipe, many Premier League teams have begun discussions with PSG for the Brazilian star, with United being the most advanced. Newcastle was earlier rumored to be one of the teams interested in bringing him to England. Chelsea was also interested in Neymar with Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly having talks with the PSG leaders.
Manchester United may improve their chances of recruiting Neymar by clinching a spot in the Champions League next season. They only require one point from their final two games of the season. They face Chelsea away on Thursday and Fulham at home on Sunday.
