As Barcelona win La Liga and start their title celebrations, former player and legend Lionel Messi also joined in the fun.
Barcelona won the La Liga on Monday after beating rivals Espanyol 4-2. Barca completely dominated the game right from the start. Robert Lewandowski scored a brace and talented youngster Alejandro Balde grabbed a goal in the first half. Defender Jules Kounde completed the scoring for the away side in the second half. Espanyol players Javi Puado and Joselu both scored but failed to prevent a 4-2 defeat.
The victory at their rival’s stadium took them 14 points clear of second-placed Real Madrid. This led to Barcelona clinching the title with four games left.
Barcelona start the celebrations
The La Liga title win is their 27th overall in history and their first since last winning in the 2018-19 campaign. The Blaugrana struggled in the last three seasons, with many issues like their financial situation and Lionel Messi’s departure affecting them.

Barcelona players were happy to win the title and couldn’t resist celebrating on their rival’s pitch itself. Even the substitutes, coaches, and staff joined in. They formed a huge circle in the middle of the RCDE stadium and were singing.
Espanyol fans were enraged at the defeat to their rivals which could see them potentially being relegated. So when they saw their rivals celebrating on the pitch, they couldn’t control themselves. The angry fans ran onto the pitch to attack the players. Luckily, the players managed to get to safety in the tunnel. Riot police were also on-site to prevent any misgivings to take place.

Lionel Messi, Neymar, and Aubameyang join in the fun
According to famed Spanish journalist Gerard Romero, Paris Saint Germain and former Barcelona stars Lionel Messi and Neymar Jr joined the celebration team through a video call. According to reports, the duo spoke with several of the players who won La Liga this season.
Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo did a live broadcast of their title celebrations. There, he sparked hope among Barca fans by saying, “Who’s there? Messi?” This seemingly confirmed the rumors of Messi joining the title celebrations.

At Barcelona, the pair- Messi and Neymar won two La Liga titles together, including a treble-winning season, they now are also teammates at PSG. However, it appears that both Leo Messi and Neymar have maintained positive relationships with both their former colleagues and new Barcelona teammates. Both are now expected to leave the club, with Messi apparently coming back to Barcelona.
Chelsea player Pierre Emerick Aubameyang who played eight minutes for Barcelona this season before moving to England was not present at the title celebrations. The striker has been credited with the La Liga win which means he will win a medal. While not physically present, he liked a post of Barcelona that celebrated the title win. He is also rumored to come back to Barca this summer.
Barcelona will lift the trophy next game when captain Sergio Busquets lifts it in Camp Nou in front of their fans against Real Sociedad on Saturday.
