Former Paris Saint Germain forward and current Wolves player Pablo Sarabia has ripped into the PSG dressing room. He called it as “just a collection of individuals” amid rumors of a dressing room problem behind the scenes. However, he did praise star players like Kylian Mbappe, Lionel Messi, and Neymar Junior.
In an explosive interview with The Telegraph, Sarabia talked about how PSG’s dressing room culture has been lacking unity after the addition of a lot of star power. However he praised some individuals and said,
“It was amazing to play with Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe, and Neymar Junior. It was a very good experience, but for me, the most crucial thing is to feel important in the team.”
“I prefer to play in another team to feel that unity, to be part of it, to be a member of the team and of a family, rather than just a collection of individuals.”
Why did Sarabia leave and how is he performing now?
Pablo Sarabia played only 16 Ligue 1 games for PSG where he only scored once. He explained his decision to leave PSG was due to not getting enough game time, “I wasn’t happy not playing. It’s very difficult to play with the level of players at PSG so I made the decision to come here. In my career, I have gone through a lot of difficult moments but now I think I want to enjoy the job. I feel that right now I’m in the prime of my career.”
The Spaniard then moved to Wolverhampton Wolves from PSG in the last January transfer window for a $5.4m transfer fee. Since then he has been a starter in six out of seven games and has helped Wolves move to 13th place from the relegation zone.
Sarabia will turn 31 in May and has loads of experience that can help Wolves survive the season. He was part of Spain’s team at the 2022 World Cup. The manager at the time Luis Enrique also did admit later that he should have given Sarabia more minutes after they were knocked out of the World Cup by Morocco in just the Round of 16.
What is PSG’s dressing room situation and what will happen to Lionel Messi?
PSG has been reported to have a chaotic dressing room where the players are at odds with each other and where they are disillusioned with manager Christopher Galtier’s tactics and decisions. These rumors intensified after another Champions League elimination at the hands of Bayern Munich. There is much doubt regarding Galtier staying at the end of the season as many players do not respect the French coach.
There are also reports from France that star player Kylian Mbappe is on no speaking terms with four members of the squad. The members include Messi, Neymar, Kimpembe, and Verrati.
There are also reports that Lionel Messi is close to leaving PSG and that Neymar is being offloaded. Currently, PSG faces a lot of sanctions from UEFA unless they reduce their wage bill.
