The NBA rivalry between the Boston Celtics and the Los Angeles Lakers will never die, and LeBron James is here to ensure it. Over the course of his 19-year career, James has averaged impressive per-game marks of 28.8 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 7.0 assists against the C’s. In those 56 games, he holds a winning record of 33-23 versus Boston.
In a July 2022 episode of his HBO show “The Shop,” LeBron James voiced his dislike of Boston fans. Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James was asked, “Why do you hate Boston?” The question came after James said he hated playing in Boston the most among NBA cities. James was quite honest with his response about why he hates Boston Celtics fans: “Because they racist as f*ck.”

The comments are even more shocking in light of James’ ownership stake in the Boston Red Sox. This comes only weeks after the Golden State Warriors and Draymond Green’s wife Hazel Renee slammed Celtics supporters for using obscene language to him in front of his children during the NBA Finals in Boston. Professional players have made complaints about Boston fans throughout the years.
As much as Boston is known for athletic excellence, it has also been a subject of criticism over its racist past and present. However, racism in sports is not limited to Boston. Black athletes represent a country that does not yet fully accept them, creating a delicate situation in which they are celebrated if they win but vilified if they lose.
