The Los Angeles Rams have strengthened their quarterback pool by bringing in former Denver Broncos quarterback Brett Rypien. The quarterback serves as a backup quarterback for the team’s first three seasons.
Despite not being selected with any of the 254 picks in the 2019 NFL Draft, Rypien later signed with the Denver Broncos as an undrafted free agent in 2019 and eventually established himself as the team’s legitimate No. 2 quarterback.
The Rams’ veteran QB room now includes a new quarterback
The Rams and Rypien agreed to a one-year contract on Wednesday, according to the news from 9News, though no specifics of the agreement have been made public. The quarterback passed his physical examination previously and he is expected to start practicing with the Rams on Thursday.
His expectations and experience were high at the time he entered the NFL. In his rookie season, he accomplished 80-of-130 passes for 778 yards, four touchdowns, and eight interceptions. His team finished the 2022 season with a 5-12 record, going 4-4 at home and 1-8 on the road keeping Brett at the helm.
Rypien on Rams: “This organization is at the point where they won a Super Bowl 2 years ago and I think that’s where they expect to be. Everything I’ve heard and seen the mentality is to get back this year. I’m excited to be a part of it and excited for the opportunity.” #9sports https://t.co/HdzOKkEc2F

“This organization is at the point now where they won a Super Bowl two years ago and I think that’s where they expect to be,’’ he said. “They had a lot of injuries and stuff last year that derailed the season a little bit but everything I’ve heard and seen the mentality is to get back this year. I’m excited to be a part of it and excited for the opportunity.”
In the absence of Russel Wilson, the 26-year-old Denver team defeated the Arizona Cardinals 24-15, with him going 21-of-26 for 197 yards and a touchdown, with one interception.
However, in March, non-tendered by the Broncos, the QB had to hit the free agency market after the Broncos informed him that he would not be tendered. The Broncos later replaced his position with the Raiders’ free-agent Jarrett Stidham by signing him to a two-year deal. The deal was worth more than $10 million in which one year and $4 million are guaranteed.
Now, Rypien also found his next destination and the good news is that the quarterback is currently living in San Diego though the team recently picked Georgia quarterback Stetson Bennett as the No.128 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. So, the opportunity came as a perfect one for him.
