Kylian Mbappe is one of the best players in the world, and it is no surprise seeing the player continuously rumored to join Real Madrid. Being a self-professed fan of the club, every transfer window, there are discussions of the player finally leaving Paris Saint Germain.
He did have a chance to join them for free in 2022, though he eventually renewed his contract for PSG. But this summer, the French superstar again tried to leave for Los Blancos by threatening to not sign a new contract extension. That has also failed, with Mbappe stuck at PSG and Madrid fans left disappointed.
Dani Carvajal talks on Kylian Mbappe transfer
The whole transfer saga left many to believe that this summer would see Kylian Mbappe come to Madrid. And it seems even Real Madrid players themselves had a similar notion. This is according to Real Madrid’s right back Dani Carvajal, as reported by GOAL.
While on international duty for Spain, the right back revealed, “I’m not going to lie to you and tell you that it wasn’t discussed, but there were all kinds of opinions in the preseason after-dinner conversations.”

“I thought he was coming. At the moment when he is not traveling to the Japan tour… And I think Real Madrid is his option to leave. At the moment when he was left off the tour, we saw his incorporation close. Then it seems that he got things a little wrong and hasn’t come.”
The players can’t be blamed, since after all PSG were trying to get rid of the player themselves. After Mbappe revealed he won’t renew his contract, the club was desperate to cash in on him rather than let him leave for free. They even restricted him from joining the pre-season tour in Japan and even from training altogether. A huge offer from Al Hilal was accepted by PSG, but the player declined it. However, Mbappe stayed put and has finally been reinstated in the team.
Kylian Mbappe continues to shine for PSG
The decision to reinstate Kylian Mbappe to the team was definitely a good one, as a player of his quality cannot be benched. Already since the start of the season, the Frenchman has showed why Real Madrid are desperate to get him.
In just the three Ligue 1 games he has played, the World Cup winner has scored five goals, already leading the top scoring charts. In the first match against Toulouse, he scored the only goal to help PSG secure a draw. He scored a brace in their last match against Lyon, and another brace against Lens before.
It is unknown if Mbappe will stay at PSG next summer, or join Madrid. But one thing is for sure, he won’t stop putting in top-tier performances. What do you think about the situation?
