Federico Valverde has been faithful to Real Madrid ever since he joined them back in 2016. Since then, he has become an invaluable part of the team, helping them win several titles, including multiple La Liga trophies and a Champions League, and most recently a comeback victory against Real Sociedad yesterday.
It is only natural that a player of his caliber will soon become wanted by many other European elite clubs. This summer saw the player being linked with many clubs, specifically in the Premier League. But the player has no intention to leave the most elite club in the world.
Fede Valverde talks on rejecting Premier League clubs
It is now understood that there were several attempts by Premier League clubs to sign Fede Valverde, but the Uruguayan had no intention of leaving Real Madrid. Apparently, after the Spanish club acquired Jude Bellingham, they were somewhat open to selling Valverde to get a high transfer fee.
But the player himself had no intention of responding to those offers. According to renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano, Valverde responded to the offers negatively. He said, “Premier League offers? I have the ability to play for Real. The day I don’t feel like that, I’m probably going to look for another solution, or Real itself will look for one for me.”
Valverde has a long contract with the club, having signed a deal until 2027 two years ago. The release clause is set at an astounding 1 billion euros to showcase the immense value of the player.
The identities of the Premier League clubs are not known, though Liverpool had come in with a 60 million euro bid earlier this summer. Chelsea are also said to have been another club interested in the player. Regardless, Valverde has chosen to stay at Madrid for now over any other club.
Fede Valverde shines as Madrid beat Sociedad
Yesterday, Fede Valverde was once again crucial as Real Madrid beat Real Sociedad 2-1 in a thrilling comeback win. Sociedad had grabbed the lead in just five minutes through a Ander Barrenetxea goal.
Fede Valverde then equalized things right at the start of the second half with a sublime stunner in the 46th minute. Summer signing Joselu then finished things up in the 60th minute with a great header.
Valverde has been amazing the past couple of seasons for Madrid. Last season was his best one yet, with 12 goals and 7 assists. In total, he has had 19 goals and 15 assists after racking up 209 appearances in the last seven years.
Madrid are truly blessed to have a loyal player like Fede Valverde in their ranks, and the Uruguayan is sure to impress them further this season.
