It seems the universe wasn’t much in agreement with the former Buffalo Bills coach, Rex Ryan, for his wild imagination of coach Sean Patton uniting with Tom Brady at the Washington Wizards.
Per SportsZion, we came to know the bizarre prediction of the veteran coach, which was based on the arrival of new leadership at Washington. However, the Denver Broncos were another franchise that finished its first season miserably under the new ownership of Rob Walton.
The Broncos finished the season at the bottom of the AFC West with a 5-12 record and fired previous head coach Nathaniel Hackett. Up until yesterday, the role was vacant for Sean Payton.
What is the deal signed between Sean Payton and the Denver Broncos?
Sean stepped down from coaching duties in 2021 but was still attached to the New Orleans Saints’ contract. The Saints got only one Super Bowl ring in their only appearance in the event in 2009, thanks to Sean’s mastermind leadership.
As a result, the Broncos had to work with the Saints to sign the 59-year-old coach. The Saints agreed to release the coach and a third-round pick in 2024 NFL draft in exchange for a first-round pick in 2023 and a second-round pick in the 2024 NFL draft.
The Broncos have not released an official statement yet, but we assume there will be an $8-$21 million deal with a three-year contract for Payton. Because the paperwork is still being drafted, the final contract may differ slightly.
Payton set his sights on the top level of competition after beginning as an offensive assistant for San Diego State in 1988. After proving himself on the college level, he was hired as a quarterbacks coach by the Philadelphia Eagles in 1997.
Sean was hired as head coach of the Saints in 2006, and he has since brought home the first Super Bowl title and been named AP coach of the year in his first year.
Under his era, the Saints experienced frequent appearances in the playoffs and saw a 63% winning rate with two divisional titles and one super bowl.
