Report: Luis Suarez reaches agreement to join club Nacional in Uruguay

One of the most talented strikers in the world is Luis Suarez, 35, who has spent a prolific career in Europe, with Ajax Amsterdam, Liverpool, FC Barcelona and eventually Atletico Madrid, but is now leaving the continent with a view to joining his childhood club Nacional back in Uruguay.

The star striker started his professional soccer career on the ground of Nacional, but his extraordinary talent gave him the opportunity to land in Europe and he signed for Dutch club Groningen when he was just 19 years of age.

Why did Luis Suarez choose club Nacional for his next destination?

Luis Suarez began his soccer career as a senior squad member for Nacional Club in 2005, which is based in Montevideo, and since then, the star forward has never looked back.

After winning the UEFA Champions League title and several La Liga titles with FC Barcelona, Suarez hoped to continue his footballing journey with the Catalans, but the financial problems killed his hope of continuing at Barca.

The Uruguayan striker then decided to leave Barca for Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2020 with the goal of playing in the top flight of European football, but this year his parent club decided to part with him and, therefore, he became available on the market as a free agent.

After looking out for a number of clubs, Luis Suarez thought that it would be best for him to return to his boyhood club, and we can see that from Fabrizio Romano’s twitter post, where he said, “I’ve now reached a pre-agreement in order to join Nacional. It was impossible for me to say no to this opportunity.”

The sensational forward also claimed that a formal announcement would soon be released in Uruguay after discussing the terms and conditions with his club, Nacional, and then he calmed the fans by saying, “I hope final details will be resolved soon in order to complete the deal officially.”
