Rio Ferdinand brutally criticizes Manchester United’s missed opportunity in not signing Declan Rice

Manchester United had a busy transfer window in the summer, with incoming players like Mason Mount, Andre Onana and Rasmus Hojlund to name a few. However, many fans still believe United missed out on a big name during the summer, and their business was not enough to be able to become a top side.

Rio Ferdinand has come out to question Manchester United’s transfer policy and criticize their decision of not going all out for Declan Rice, despite having concrete interest in the English midfielder. Not only United missed out on a big name, but they also lost the said battle to one of their rivals, Arsenal.

Ferdinand regrets United’s Declan Rice decision

Declan Rice joined Arsenal from West Ham for a club record £105m, after being one of the key players for England and driving West Ham to European success by winning the Conference League last season.

Now, Rio Ferdinand seems to be disappointed with the United board for missing out on Rice and said that he regrets it. Ferdinand, while talking in Vibe with Five, said that he would’ve “100% gone and got Declan Rice” and questioned United letting Arsenal bag his signature.

About Rice, he added, “Not only with performances and standards and helping with the culture and the environment but the attitude and the likeability factor, the respect factor that he would get straight away.”

Declan Rice has had a tremendous season till now and has left Ferdinand really impressed. Ferdinand went to compare Rice to Jude Bellingham, and added, “Not only with performances and standards and helping with the culture and the environment but the attitude and the likeability factor, the respect factor that he would get straight away”.

Barcelona reportedly eyeing a move for Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford

Manchester United look to be busy in the upcoming winter transfer window, as they are looking to shake things up a bit in the squad.

Multiple reports have suggested that United are willing to sell big names in the coming window, including Jadon Sancho, Raphael Varane and Casemiro, in order to trim the wage bill and make room for new signings.

However, that could mean that any lucrative offer for a high earner like Marcus Rashford could be accepted by the club. Barcelona are reportedly eyeing a move for the English attacker, as they gear up for the second half of the season after a slow start.

With Ferran Torres close to leaving Barca, Rashford could fit in as a straight up replacement for the winger.
