If anyone thinks nothing special happens at WWE PLE events, the Crown Jewel kickoff is the perfect example to prove them wrong. From the very first match at the 2024 Crown Jewel in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, it was evident that WWE was planning something major for Survivor Series Wargames, which would include Sami Zayn, Roman Reigns, and the continuing Bloodline intrigue.
This was a major blow for Roman Reigns, ending his 1,975-day unbeaten streak in Saudi Arabia. Many anticipated that he would lose to Solo Sikoa’s faction, intensifying the Bloodline storyline for the future, but the humiliating nature of his pinfall loss was unexpected.
The tension started when Jey Uso made a solo entrance, even after reuniting with Roman and Jimmy. Jey’s dominance and lack of respect towards Roman revealed their strained family bond. This defeat might make Roman realize he needs a real family reunion, not just a superficial one.
If Roman wants to come back strong at Survivor Series, he’ll need to rebuild the Bloodline with genuine unity. With Paul Heyman’s return, things might fall into place for the tribal chief to clean up this mess.
Former superstar calls out WWE after Roman Reigns’ loss
Former SmackDown star Matt Morgan has voiced his criticism of WWE’s decision to have Roman Reigns take a pinfall loss at Crown Jewel 2024. On the Gigantic Pop podcast, Morgan expressed his disappointment, stating that WWE should have protected Reigns considering his top-star status.
He said, “I thought you said the pay-per-view s***ed. It did, and this is part of why it s***ed. They kicked the event off with [sic] having Superman of their company, the modern-day John Cena, if you will, but better, Roman Reigns, taking a pinfall. You don’t give a Roman Reigns pinfall, you know, where they were at tonight, in my opinion.”
Many fans in the community agree with Morgan’s statement. Since Roman Reigns turned face, WWE hasn’t given him the spotlight he deserves. Even the Crown Jewel event felt lacking, leaving his true fans frustrated and upset.
