The news already came into the limelight last night that Lionel Messi wants to leave FC Barcelona.
The Argentine was already upset with the way the Barcelona board is managing the club. Now Barcelona’s new coach added insult to that injury by his words.
Messi’s future has been uncertain since their embarrassing defeat against Bayern Munich in Lisbon. The loss caused the sacking of Quique Setien who took charge of the club only seven months ago.
Later, Sporting Director Eric Abidal also had to depart from the club. Ronald Koeman replaced Setien as the new coach of FC Barcelona.
What Koeman told Lionel Messi in the meeting
It was already very much difficult for the Dutchman to sort out things in the club. The rumor of Messi leaving the club was still hanging in the air. So Koeman had to convince him to stay at the club by arranging a meeting.
However, the meeting didn’t bring in anything worth mentioning. Later, the situation became worse than it was expected to be.
Koeman wanted fresh blood in the squad and so he wanted to get rid of some of the senior players.
But the idea didn’t sound legitimate to Leo Messi, especially about releasing someone like Luis Suarez who has been a close friend of the Argentine since 2014.
Koeman apparently told Messi that the “privileges were over.” For Messi that was too much, leading to his decision to leave.

In addition, Koeman wanted to make sure no player takes control of the locker room and receives additional facilities from others.
As it is clear some of the senior Barcelona players have been getting privileges than others. Eventually, that was creating some mess in the locker room leading to the poor performance of the team.
But Koeman wanted to put an end to this situation. As Diario Ole reported, Koeman informed Messi the scenario was likely to change soon.
“Your privileges in the squad are over, you have to do everything for the team. I’m going to be inflexible, you have to think about the team.” Koeman told Messi.
Lionel Messi was already upset with the reaction that his close friend Suarez got from the coach. And now, he has made up his mind to leave his childhood club. As per multiple reports, he is looking for a new club.
No wonder, some European giants like Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain, or Inter Milan will be keen to land arguably the best footballer of this generation.
