Rudy Gobert and Shaquille O’Neal’s feud heated up again on Thursday. The four-time NBA champion recently labeled Gobert as the worst player in the league. We all know that Shaquille O’Neal doesn’t hold back when he talks about the NBA. However, the 32-year-old has now fired back at Shaq for his rude claims.
Rudy Gobert responded on X after Shaquille O’Neal’s mean remarks about him, claiming that Shaq was just attempting to maintain his value while offering entertainment. Gobert, who is committed to the Timberwolves for the next five years at a total of $205 million, doesn’t see how a player with that kind of money could be labeled the worst in the NBA.
He tweeted, “It is sad to see someone that has accomplished as much as you did @SHAQ both in sport and business still be triggered by another man’s finances and accomplishments. I get the entertainment part, but unlike other folks, you don’t need that stuff to stay relevant.”
Despite the hefty contract, Shaq shared his reasons for his controversial opinion about the Minnesota center.
Why did Shaq call Rudy Gobert the worst NBA player?
On the recent Complex’s GOAT Talk podcast, Shaquille O’Neal didn’t hold back when naming his pick for the worst NBA player ever. He wasted no time slamming the door on Minnesota Timberwolves center Rudy Gobert.
Shaq justified his choice by saying, “No, because you know why? If you sign a contract for $250 (million), show me $250 (million). There’s a reason why I walk funny, why I can’t turn my neck. Because I played for my $120 (million). You got guys like him that f–– the system over there making all this money and they can’t f––ing play. I don’t respect guys like that.”
Then Shaq made it clear that he is only speaking facts whenever he makes these remarks, even though people constantly presume he is nasty.
