Silent Assassin also expressed her desire to fight the current undisputed female light middleweight title holder at St. James’ Park. Meanwhile, Shield’s team has responded to Marshal’s rematch activation, and they are currently exploring the possibilities of this clash.
“Claressa traveled thousands of miles away from home to put on one of the greatest performances and beat her rival in her home country.” Shields’ promoter, Dmitry Salita, told Sky Sports.
“For Marshall to talk about a date and venue is not productive because it’s not an accurate projection of what can happen. There are lots of nuts and bolts to this situation. If a fight with Marshall makes sense, we will definitely explore that possibility.”
Claressa Shields is currently enjoying an undefeated run since her professional boxing debut in November 2016 at the T-Mobile Arena in Paradise, Nevada. She made 13 ring appearances; she won them all, but only two of the victories were achieved by KO.
The USA Boxing Alumni Association’s Hall of Famer also tried to explore MMA, in which she made two appearances and lost one.
On the other hand, Marshal was also on an undefeated run, but it ended in a unanimous defeat against Shields in her last appearance, and she also lost her WBO female middleweight title.
The last clash between these two was considered one of the biggest boxing events in recent history, as they fought the full ten rounds. If the rematch gets confirmed, it really could be thrilling news for combat sports fans.
