Many skilled athletes have taken the path of professional wrestling hoping to make it big in the ring and to become a superstar. But very few could become great performers, and others only hoped to perform in the main event.
The name Kurt Angle tops the list when it comes to athletes joining professional wrestling. Back in 1999, Kurt made his in-ring debut in the Survivor Series of WWE. After that Kurt Angle was part of many big matches. However, there were a few moments that were controversial as well.
Kurt Angle sheds light on fraudulent charges by Daniel Puder
In an episode of SmackDown in 2004, Angle challenged the stars from the WWE reality show “Tough Enough“ in the ring. The whole situation was supposed to be big, Kurt Angle was supposed to beat them. But things didn’t go as planned.
Kurt steamrolled through Chris Nawrocki, breaking his ribs in the process after the beginning of the match. Daniel Puder refused to become the next victim, for the sake of the script. He proceeded to write a story on his own. He exchanged a few blows with Angle, Puder grabbed Angle’s right arm, forced it into a tacky angle, and tried to break it. The referee watched Angle was forced by Puder in the wrong way. The referee knew the disaster that was going to happen. He delivered three-count despite Puder’s shoulders not being fully down on the mat. Kurt Angle then hopped up and screamed at his opponent.
In a recent interview with Inside The Ropes, Kurt discussed the whole situation between him and Daniel Puder. He said Puder would have shone as a wrestler if he was positive about the sport. He also said that Puder didn’t act according to the script of that match because he didn’t want to get beaten. He also said that WWE offered Daniel Puder to comeback in the ring but Puder wanted more money than what he was offered. Which eventually led to its cancellation.
