Tonight WWE SmackDown is set to be held in arguably World’s most famous combat sports arena i.e. Madison Square Garden 2023. The show is set to feature multiple blockbuster matches & segments including The Tribal Court.
On the other hand, Aj Styles is expected to face Karrion Kross in a single bout. The Rated R Superstar Edge is also scheduled to make his long-awaited comeback on the Grayson Waller Effect.
Instead of these high-profile segments & matches, the venue also advertised the current World Heavyweight Champion Seth Freaking! Rollins for the Blue brand show.
WWE scheduled Seth Rollins to face Damian Priest
Early on, The Visionary was scheduled to face Damian Priest on the MSG show. However, the company has updated the site and changed the card to Rollins vs Balor rematch. The term cards are subject to change used by the company in the present scenario. A rematch between The Visionary & Balor is also rumored for The ‘Biggest Party of the Summer’ i.e. SummerSlam 2023.
It is also highly likely that the match will take place on the off-air of SmackDown. Mainly, matches like these are added to the show to make the venue crowd feel special. Being an off-air match, there is no chance that a title change will take place on the show.
Match changed to highlight rift in The Judgement Day
On the latest edition of WWE Raw, a heated argument took place between Balor & Damian Priest. Tensions seem to be rising between the Judgment Day members, which could be the reason behind the potential change on the card. The company probably wants to use its storyline angle to add more fuel to the fire.
The Mr. MITB winner seems to be unhappy with the faction from the past couple of weeks. There are speculations that he will be kicked out of the faction in the near future which could possibly lead to a Civil War between the members of The Judgment Day.
If the speculations come true, then Priest could again turn into a face character. Also, it is highly likely that he could cash in his MITB contract at SummerSlam 2023. As rumors surround the rematch between Balor & Rollins, it will be interesting to see how Priest will cash in his contract.
If he cashes in during the match then he could pin either Balor or Rollins to become the new World Heavyweight Champion at the ‘Biggest Party of the Summer’.
