Last week, Raw Seth Rollins issued an open challenge for which on the latest show, He appeared in the show opening. Things didn’t go well, as The Visionary had suffered from a brutal beat down at the hands of his Money in the Bank opponent Finn Balor.
Because of this beat down, Seth Rollins failed to hold his open challenge, which raises a question among fans that whether The Visionary will defend his World Heavyweight Championship at NXT Gold Rush after suffering this whole.
Finn Balor assaults Seth Rollins ahead of open challenge on RAW
The Judgment Day member brutally assaulted Seth Rollins in the opening of WWE Raw. Balor also hit his finisher Coup de Grace from the announcer’s table on Rollins. The beat down also continued backstage, where Balor also made a bold statement by saying that, He is waiting for this moment for 7 years.
The reference of 7 years is basically from their first encounter i.e. Summerslam 2016. As During their first match, Seth injured Balor which forced him to relinquish his first World Championship.
According to the reports, these are not the original plans for The Visionary, as the plans were changed by Vince Mcmahon 30 minutes before the show. The original opponent for Seth Rollins is the returning Tommaso Ciampa, who faced Miz this week after their return. Vince changed the plans to show Finn Balor more aggressive in his feud against the Champion.
World Heavyweight Champion confirms NXT appearance despite wear and tear
Despite the brutal beatdown from Finn Balor, Seth Rollins still confirms his upcoming championship match against Bron Breakker at NXT Gold Rush 2023. Rollins also claimed himself The Fighting Champion by confirming his NXT appearance.
The World Heavyweight Champion also mentioned the attack from Balor on the opening of Raw. Seth Rollins smiled and said “Welcome Back” to his MITB opponent. it will be interesting to see how things will turn in the future, as the Visionary is already set to have 2 title defenses.
It seems like Seth Rollins is likely to retain his title at NXT Gold Rush so that he can continue his feud against Balor for the upcoming premium live event. Seth Rollins & Finn Balor had already multiple past encounters, which proved to be high-profile matches this is also another reason why fans are looking for their next clash at Money in the Bank 2023.
