Shannon Sharpe, former defensive end and current NFL analyst tweeted that the Kansas City Chiefs need to reconsider Mahomes’ contract and offer him a $1 billion extension.
He expressed his respect for Mahomes by stating that he is one of the best quarterbacks and deserves a 10-year contract extension.

Because Mahomes is one of the best quarterbacks in the league, everyone thinks that he is being underpaid. This is not the first time Shannon has spoken about it. He had also mentioned the prospect a few days back.
During his debut appearance on “First Take” on Monday, Sept. 4, Pro, Shannon Sharpe said that Mahomes has a bargain contract. “Mahomes took that bargain contract just so you can have guys like Travis Kelce, and Chris Jones, and you can pay those guys. Pay Chris Jones his money,” Shannon said.
This is indeed a fact. The Chiefs quarterback did restructure his contract so that the team can also keep other great players on the roster. But Shannon believes that this needs to end now and the team should offer him the biggest contract.

On the other hand, many other quarterbacks in the league get paid way more than him. Currently, Joe Burrow is the highest-paid quarterback who earns $55 million average annual salary. Second on the list is Lamar Jackson ($52 million), then Jalen Hurts ($51 million), and Russell Wilson ($48.5 million), each earning more than the Chiefs superstar.
