The 2024-25 NBA season is underway, and a bunch of media folks and former legends are dropping their player rankings. In the mix, Shaq O’Neal just dropped his list of the top 50 players for the season, featuring Lakers legend LeBron James sitting at number five.
In a recent episode of “Inside the NBA,” Charles Barkley, Shaq O’Neal, and Kenny Smith talked about their top 50 player rankings for the 2024-25 NBA season. O’Neal, known for his candidness, expressed that his rankings heavily relied on winning and team success.
Some people might think it’s strange that LeBron James is not in the top three. But Shaq focused on players who have achieved a lot as a team. He mentioned Nikola Jokić and Giannis Antetokounmpo, who have won championships, and Luka Dončić, who almost did.
At 39 years old, LeBron is still one of the best and most famous players in the league. His rivalry with Stephen Curry and his outstanding performances keep him in the conversation as one of the greatest players ever.
LeBron James on son Bronny’s first NBA point
In a special moment during a recent game between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Cleveland Cavaliers, LeBron James watched proudly as his son Bronny scored his first points in the NBA.
Bronny came into the game with just over two minutes left and made a mid-range jumper for two points. Although Bronny has played three games in the Pro League this season, this was his first score with the Lakers.
After the game, LeBron James reflected, “He’s better than I would have been in that situation. 20,000 fans screaming my name and wanting me to get in the game… To see him get his first NBA basket in this arena, he grew up not too far away from here, just an unbelievable moment for him, an unbelievable moment for our family. It’s cool to be a part of it.”
