She asked Shaquille a couple of questions throughout the interview, and Shaq was respectful to the young woman.
O’Neal seized the chance to instill wisdom in Jazzy and provide her with numerous instructive moments. Shaq recalled that he had previously met Jazzy and had lost a wager on her. Shaq honored his promise and paid Jazzy before wishing her well.
Unexpectedly, Diesel has made it his mission to raise a generation of financially savvy individuals. In addition to encouraging his kids’ commercial endeavors, he has taught them how to manage their finances carefully.
Jazzy received what seemed to be $20 cash from Shaq for a bet he lost. Although the specifics of the wager are still unknown, Shaq made sure the young lady learned a few important lessons. “Don’t take nothing else from strangers, you understand me?” said O’Neal, who would not reveal the terms of the bet.
After hearing Jazzy’s opinion of him and responding to a query regarding the impact of his parents, Diesel gave her some valuable financial advice. “This is for all of the kids, the money that I gave you, I forgot to tax you,” he said.
“It’s called income tax,” he said. “I’m just going to take a little income tax and you can keep the rest. … If you file your income tax form, you can get that money back,” he said as he handed the bill back to her, which she accepted with appreciation.
Shaq imparts to his kids the value of financial literacy with the same ruthless candor. On the “Earn Your Leisure” podcast, he enunciated that he tells his kids, “We ain’t rich. I’m rich.”
