This year’s SummerSlam 2023 is set to feature highly anticipated matches, including a tribal combat match between Roman Reigns and Jey Uso. Additionally, Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler are scheduled to face each other in a unique stipulation at the Biggest Party of the Summer.
During the latest edition of WWE RAW, both former friends agreed to wrestle at the upcoming premium live event, which was later officially announced by the Stamford-Based Promotion. The company also revealed that the match would follow the rules of a Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) match.
Shayna Baszler “Sick of” Ronda Rousey recognition
The feud between Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler began at the Money in the Bank 2023 premium live event, where they defended their Women’s Tag Team Championship against Liv Morgan & Raquel Rodriguez. The match ended shockingly when Shayna Baszler started attacking her own partner, leading to their loss of the tag team titles.
On the fallout of Monday Night Raw, Baszler revealed the reason behind the betrayal. She expressed her frustration with Ronda Rousey’s recognition in the company, stating that she had to struggle to reach her current position, while Rousey was seemingly inserted directly into the main picture of the Women’s division. She also mentioned how Rousey used Baszler to elevate her position in WWE.
Later, Rousey confronted Baszler, and multiple heated confrontations took place between the two. Ultimately, an MMA match was confirmed for the Biggest Party of the Summer.
Ronda reportedly on her way out of WWE
As we head towards SummerSlam 2023, multiple reports speculate that this could be the last match of the ‘Baddest Woman on the Planet’ in WWE. No specific reason has been revealed for Ronda Rousey’s potential departure, but it’s rumored that her contract with WWE is expiring, and she hasn’t renewed it yet. This opens up the possibility of Rousey leaving the company after SummerSlam 2023. However, recently, Vince Russo revealed further plans for Rousey’s future after her rumored departure from WWE. Russo stated, “She should get out! Let me tell you something… she could have had a career in Hollywood. She could have been a female version of Arnold Schwarzenegger.”
It will be interesting to see how things unfold at SummerSlam 2023. If the rumors are true, then the match between Rousey and Baszler could indeed be the last match of the ‘Baddest Woman on the Planet’ in WWE and also this feud seems to be a perfect farewell for Rousey from the company.
