Lionel Messi continues his legacy as he adds another award to his tally. Recently the player joined Inter Miami to face a new challenge in the MLS.
A few days ago Messi left the city of the Eiffel Tower after spending 2 years. However, two seasons with the Persians are not much memorable for him. PSG signed him to win the Champions League glory but he was not been able to do so.
Messi made a great impact on the club and created a nightmare-attacking trio with the Frenchman Kylian Mbappe and Brazilian star Neymar. In Paris, Leo won 2 Ligue 1 and 1 French Super Cup.
During his time in Paris, Messi played 75 matches and scored 32 goals along with 35 assists. Last season has played 32 matches for the club in Ligue 1 and 7 matches in UEFA Champions League.
Where he scored 16 goals in Ligue and 4 goals in the Champions League. Due to his 16 goals and 16 assists he won the best foreign player award in the tournament. This trophy increases his individual trophy cabinet to 55.
This prize is awarded by the French association to the foreign player who made a great impact on their respective club in the domestic league and help the side to win the title .
Messi also became the top assistant provider in the competition.
French soccer community slams the decision
As many believed that winning the award is not deserved by the Argentine maestro. Messi was not deserved to be the best player foreign in the league. As per the reports suggest many commented that any other player deserves the award instead of Messi.
Messi didn’t manage to score many goals for PSG in Ligue 1 as his French teammate won the top scorer award in the league. Although Messi provide all the important 16 assists in the competition, that was not enough to win the award.
