Son Heung Min Injury: Tottenham captain provides update following South Korea’s win in 2026 World Cup Qualifiers

Son Heung-min, the captain of Tottenham Hotspur, is widely loved for his personality and is renowned as a serial goal-scorer. The Asian sensation currently leads as the top scorer for his Premier League side this term.

The South Korean international led his side to start off the AFC 2026 World Cup qualifiers with a dominating 5-0 triumph over Singapore. In the midst of this success Son Heung-Min provided an injury update, causing a scare for Spurs fans.

Son Heung Min injury update

Club football is on hold due to the commencement of FIFA international breaks in November, allowing players to join their national teams for ongoing World Cup qualifications. These breaks often stir distress among fans, as their favorite players go on national duty, with the hope of returning without injury woes.

Spurs’ ace forward, Son Heung-min, had previously suffered a knock in a friendly exhibition against Vietnam in a previous international window. A similar story followed during the ongoing break in the World Cup qualification match in Seoul, South Korea.

South Korea’s talismanic skipper Son Heung-min went down on the field following a knee injury, due to a strong late challenge from a Singaporean player. Despite the pain, the 31-year-old played throughout the entire 90 minutes. Post-match, he provided an update about the injury while addressing the reporters.

He said, “I am fine now, I don’t like to lie down [on the pitch] in the winter. At that moment [when he went down] I couldn’t feel anything on my foot. I’m fine, no injury.”

Son Heung Min scored brilliant goal for South Korea

In South Korea’s opener, they clashed against Singapore in the capital of Korea at the World Stadium Seoul on November 16. The hosts faced no trouble against the 155th-ranked side in the FIFA rankings as they started their World Qualification campaign with a 5-0 rout over Singapore.

Tottenham Hotspur’s Korean number seven continued his red-hot goal-scoring form in his national team jersey as well. He scored a stunning left-footed strike from outside the box, contributing to the team’s third goal.

He has been the main scorer and is currently leading as the top goal-scorer this season for Spurs. Especially after Harry Kane’s departure to Bayern Munich, Son has stepped up to the occasion, leading the Spurs’ attack alongside new signing James Maddison under the supervision of the newly appointed boss, Ange Postecoglou.
