While cornerback Jack Jones of the New England Patriots is scrambling to get rid of and recommit himself to the team after serving a suspension for arriving late and skipping rehab sessions, another Gun-related incident has once more tied him to an off-field challenge.
Recently, Gun related incidents have become rather rampant among athletes. Recently, NBA’s Ja’ Morant has fallen into hot waters after brandishing a weapon on social media.
Why was Jack Jones arrested?
Following the discovery of two firearms in a traveler’s carry-on luggage on Friday evening, the Massachusetts state police were summoned to the Terminal B TSA security checkpoint.
The luggage belonged to the Patriots’ player Jones, hence the Patriots star was soon detained at Boston’s Logan Airport for possessing weapons without a firearm identification document and obscuring weapons in an enclosed part of an airport. The cornerback will also be charged with illegal ownership of a firearm and bringing a loaded firearm in addition to the prior offenses.
Update on his current situation?
The Patriots’ second-year cornerback had been detained at the State Police Barracks and released on $50,000 bail. His attorney has not yet provided a statement, but he will now be arraigned at East Boston District Court the following week.
The 25-year-old was selected by the Patriots in the fourth round of the 2022 NFL draft with the 121st overall pick. He played in 13 games, making two starts, and recorded 30 tackles, two interceptions, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery.
The Patriots acknowledged the validity of the claim and said they are on their way to looking into it, according to a team spokesman.
“We have been notified that Jack Jones was arrested at Logan Airport earlier today. We are in the process of gathering more information and will not be commenting further at this time,” a Patriots spokesman said.
The Patriots coach Bill Belichick had previously expressed his belief in the linebacker on the field in March, severing all of his prior wrongdoings. But the Patriots’ LB has once more found himself in a challenging circumstance, and this time around his career could truly be in jeopardy.
