Stephen A. Smith, a prominent figure on ESPN, is renowned for his candid analysis of the most recent happenings in the sports world. He never hesitates to share his honest, unvarnished opinions when it comes to hoops and none other than the illustrious LeBron James is among his most frequently scrutinized subjects.
NBA legend LeBron James is well-known in the basketball community and beyond, thanks to a stellar career that has seen him win multiple MVP awards and multiple NBA championships. LeBron recently brushed off Stephen A’s criticism of his teammate.
SAS fires back at LeBron’s claim about AD as Lakers’ face
Few people can match Stephen A. Smith’s passion and intensity in the always heated world of sports commentary, particularly when it comes to talking about the Los Angeles Lakers and their star players, LeBron James and Anthony Davis. After LeBron boldly declared that AD was the “Lakers’ face,” Smith was bound to respond with a forceful statement.
Smith disagreed with James’ assertion because, in his view, James and Stephen Curry are the faces of the NBA, and he is prepared to stand his ground on that belief. If James is still around, he doesn’t think Davis can lead the team. Charles Barkley and Stephen A. Smith have very similar viewpoints. Both believe that the four-time champion wants Davis to take up his role so he can gradually retire.
Like Jeanie Buss, Smith believes that the 2020 NBA champion is a fantastic player when he plays at his best. Still, Davis’s inconsistent performance is a major hindrance. “He is a superstar in the game of basketball without question. You drop 40 one game and the next day on a playoff game you score 11. You can’t put back-to-back big time performances in a post-season game to save your life,” Stephen A said.
Smith however acknowledged that Anthony Davis, the Lakers center is a fantastic player, ranking him in the top seven when healthy and eager to play.
LeBron James fires back at Anthony Davis critics
The LA Lakers defeated the Phoenix Suns 100-95 on Thursday, and after the game, LeBron James stood up for Anthony Davis against his detractors. After going scoreless in the second half of the Lakers’ loss to the Denver Nuggets on opening night, Davis was criticized.
“The King” confronted AD’s detractors in his post-match interview with NBA’s Jared Greenberg on TNT. Against the Suns, Davis let his performance speak for itself. He finished with 30 points, 12 rebounds, two assists, three steals, and three blocks. He was 9 for 10 from the charity stripe and 10 for 17 from the field.
LeBron said “We don’t give a sh*t about criticism about AD. We don’t care, nothing bothers us. AD doesn’t care. I don’t if guys have figured it out, AD does not care. He’s not on social media, so he doesn’t see none of the crap. He rarely talks, much less to us.”
