Stephen Curry has recently drawn tons of criticisms because of Draymond Green’s behavior. In addition to creating a media frenzy, Draymond Green’s situation has raised questions about Steph Curry’s leadership.
Some in the media have been critical of the Golden State Warriors guard, arguing that he should share some of the blame for not holding Green accountable for his deeds. ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith also believes that Curry should be held accountable for Green’s actions.
Kerr rebukes criticism of Curry’s leadership
According to a recent statement made by Stephen A. Smith of ESPN’s First Take, Curry needs to be held responsible for what transpired. Smith claims that if LeBron James had been Green’s teammate, many would have criticized him and thought Steph Curry should have also been held accountable.
“If this were LeBron James, it this was a teammate of LeBron James, we’d be all over LeBron James. Where’s the leadership? … I don’t think we should be holding Steph Curry with lesser standards,” said Smith.
Warriors Head Coach Steve Kerr has already heard these remarks and is not happy with the way the media has been criticizing Curry for holding Green responsible. “For anybody to question Steph Curry’s leadership, it’s actually kind of sickening. And I saw some of that and it was disgusting. Curry is one of the finest human beings I have ever been around,” said Kerr.
Clippers extend winning streak despite Stephen Curry’s efforts
The Los Angeles Clippers defeated the visiting Golden State Warriors 121-113 on Thursday to extend their winning streak to a season-high six games. James Harden scored a game-high 28 points and dished out 15 assists, while Kawhi Leonard added 27 points.
With 4:33 left in the third quarter, Harden became the 24th player in NBA history to reach the 25,000-point plateau with a driving layup. Norman Powell scored 21 points, and Amir Cofffey added a season-high 18 for the Clippers.
The Los Angeles Clippers secured a victory despite the absence of star player Paul George, who missed his first game of the season due to left hip soreness. George had experienced a sore left groin during Tuesday’s Sacramento Kings game.
In addition to Stephen Curry’s 17 points, Klay Thompson scored a season-high 30 points for the Warriors, including eight 3-pointers. Following an incident where Green hit Jusuf Nurkic of the Phoenix Suns in the head during a game on Tuesday, Green was suspended indefinitely, and thus, Golden State played without him.
