“Straight to the room crying”: Gabriel Jesus Sheds Light on Pep Guardiola’s Unfair Treatment that Forced Him to Leave Man City

The previous Premier League campaign was filled with ebbs and flows and by the end of the season, several clubs faced heartbreaks. Despite being on top of the table for the best part of the season, the Gunners could not capitalize and handed over the title to the formidable Manchester City. Among the couple of players who made their journey from Manchester to the capital was the 26-year-old forward Gabriel Jesus.

As clubs gear up for their pre-season campaigns, the transfer news and rumours are heating up. A lot of supporters were surprised after Gabriel Jesus recalled the moment that made him leave Manchester City. Let’s find out what the Brazilian had to say.

Gabriel Jesus’s remarks on Pep Guardiola’s unjust behaviour

In 2017, Manchester City signed the Brazilian forward from Palmeiras for a reported fee of $34 million. After a stint of 5 successful years in the city of Manchester, the versatile forward made a move to Arsenal for a fee of $57 million. Recently, Gabriel Jesus made headlines with his comments about Pep Guardiola and his alleged unfair behaviour.

Jesus claimed that the Spanish coach preferred the left-back Oleksandr Zinchenko at the striker position in a vital game against the French giants PSG. The Brazilian said “There was a Champions League game, PSG, at home, in which he put Zinchenko as a false 9. The day before, he didn’t even use him [Zinchenko] in training, he had put me in as a striker,  Zinchenko even joked with me: ‘That day I felt bad for you.‘”

The attacker added “Two hours before the game, there’s a team talk, the team eats, rests for 30 minutes and goes to the game. He told us the team and I didn’t even eat. I went straight to the room, crying, I called my mother to talk: ‘I want to leave.’ I’m going home, because he put him [Zinchenko] on, and he didn’t put me on. He put a left-back there.

Gabriel Jesus’s achievements with Man City

During his stay of 5 years at the Etihad, the 26-year-old attacker played 236 matches while scoring 95 goals and providing 46 assists which put him 14th on the club’s top scorer list. The Brazilian enjoyed a lot of success in the city of Manchester by winning multiple trophies which included 4 Premier League titles, a FA cup and 3 EFL cups.

Well, it is fair to say that things got heated up between the fanbases of both clubs on social media after the Brazilian’s comments. With Arsenal being in reaching distance of the Premier League title last season, the big question arises, can the Brazilian forward be the catalyst in dethroning Pep Guardiola and Manchester City as the English champions?
